What is the Gospel?

The gospel is the good news of God’s grace invading the darkness of this world. It is the grand narrative of creation, the fall, redemption and consummation ordained by God and orchestrated through the life, death, resurrection and
ascension of Jesus Christ. The crucifixion of Jesus is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the power of the gospel. His ascension is the glory of the gospel.

Jesus Christ’s death is a substitutionary and propitiatory sacrifice to God for our sins. It satisfies the demands of God’s holy justice and appeases His holy wrath. It also demonstrates His miraculous love and reveals His amazing grace.
Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man (Hebrews 10:1-14). There is no other name by which we can be saved. At the heart of the Bible is the greatest story of love every told through the cross of Jesus Christ and the infinite privilege that redeemed sinners have in glorifying God because of what He has accomplished. Therefore, we want all that takes place in our hearts, church gatherings and ministries to proceed from and be deeply saturated in the gospel.

How should you respond to the Gospel?

Acknowledge that you are a sinner (Rom 3:23), like all of us . Sin is rebellion against God. Recognize the weight of your sin. Sin earns you eternal separation from God, but God offers you the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ
(Romans 6:23). Confess your sins and ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior (Romans 10:9-10). If you just trusted Jesus as your Savior or would like to speak with someone about how to do that, please contact us at info@sfchurch.com.
